
Happy New Year! It is time to kick off the year with a Fighter of the Month. For January we are shining the spotlight on Taylor Jones.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TRAINING FOR ARMORED COMBAT?
I have been training for 5 years.
DO YOU HAVE ANY BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE IN MARTIAL ARTS OR OTHER SPORTS?
I’ve played football, but no other martial arts experience.


HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT ARMORED COMBAT AND WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO JOIN?
I found a video on YouTube and fell in love with the sport immediately. My love for competition and history led me to join the sport.
DO YOU REMEMBER HOW YOU FELT IN YOUR FIRST FIGHT? CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE EXPERIENCE?
My first fight was a longsword duel. I felt exhaustion, exhilaration, and most of all freedom in that first fight.

WHAT IS YOUR PREFERRED WEAPON? DO YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR FAVORITE?
I like to use a two-handed axe in melees and prefer to fight sword and shield in Pro-Fights.
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ARE SOME POSITIVE ASPECTS THAT COME FROM THE SPORT?
Some positive aspects are learning new skills, becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable, teamwork, comradery, passion, and fighting through adversity.



WHAT IS YOUR FIGHTING STYLE – IF YOU HAVE ONE?
I fight aggressively, fast, hard, and controlled.
DO YOU THINK FIGHTING CHANGES WHO YOU ARE AS A PERSON? HOW HAS IT AFFECTED YOU PERSONALLY?
It has made me a much calmer person in my day-to-day life. I am much more confident in myself by knowing my limitations and testing them regularly.


WHAT WOULD YOUR ADVICE BE FOR NEW PEOPLE INTERESTED IN THE SPORT?
Be consistent. Be disciplined
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO FOR THE FUTURE OF ARMORED COMBAT SPORTS?
I look forward to the growth of the buhurt and Armored Combat Sports community.
ANY FINAL WORDS YOU WANTED TO MENTION?
A lot of fighters out there are fighting a war with themselves every minute of every day. To us, the handful of minutes given to fight against someone else is the most freeing minutes of our lives. Never take that for granted. Not everyone is blessed with this opportunity.
